Meditation for Peace and Happiness
Peace and happiness are often treated as rewards that arrive when circumstances finally cooperate. Raja Yoga takes a different approach. It asks whether these qualities can be awakened from within, so that our wellbeing becomes less fragile and less dependent on every external scene going our way.

Understanding this meditation
Inner peace does not mean becoming passive, and happiness does not mean pretending that everything is pleasant. Both become more stable when they come from self-awareness, self-respect and a clear understanding of what we can and cannot control.
By returning to soul consciousness, we shift attention from constant comparison and expectation toward qualities that can be created now: peace, gratitude, benevolence and contentment.

A meditation you can practise now
I give myself permission to stop chasing the next moment for a little while.
I become aware of myself as the quiet observer behind the eyes, the one who is thinking and experiencing.
I create the thought: peace is already a possibility within me.
I do not have to earn this moment of peace. I simply stop feeding the thoughts that disturb it.
I remember something simple for which I am grateful. Perhaps a person, a place, a lesson, or simply the opportunity to begin again today.
Gratitude softens the mind. I allow contentment to replace the feeling that something must always be missing.
I create another thought: my happiness does not have to rise and fall with every situation.
There may still be responsibilities and difficulties, but I can meet them from a steadier inner position.
I sit for a few moments in this quiet combination of peace and contentment.
I return to my day carrying one intention: wherever I go, I will try to add peace rather than demand peace from everyone around me.
