Day 2 of 7

The Supreme Soul and the relationship with God

Raja Yoga meditation becomes a relationship: the soul turns its awareness toward the Supreme Soul, the Source of peace, love, wisdom and spiritual power.

Day 2 builds on soul-consciousness. If I am a soul, Raja Yoga next asks: what is my relationship with the Supreme? Brahma Kumaris teachings describe God as the Supreme Soul — incorporeal, beyond the cycle of human birth and death, and remembered as a point of spiritual light.

From belief to relationship

Raja Yoga encourages a personal relationship with God rather than only an abstract theological idea. The practitioner explores relationships such as Parent, Teacher, Guide and Friend.

A relationship changes meditation. Instead of thinking only about your own mind, you direct attention toward a Source of the qualities you value. If you are practising peace, remember the Ocean of Peace. If you need courage, remember the Source of spiritual power. If you feel unloved, experiment with receiving spiritual love without demanding that another human being fill every inner need.

How Brahma Kumaris describes the Supreme

Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga distinguishes the Supreme Soul from human souls. Human souls take roles in the physical world and pass through changing experiences. The Supreme is understood as eternally bodiless and beyond the cycle of human reincarnation.

This is a spiritual teaching, not a scientific claim. A learner can understand it, meditate with it and observe what effect the relationship has on consciousness and behaviour.

A point of radiant light is often used as a symbol. The symbol helps the mind focus on a Being who is subtle rather than physical.

Why remembrance changes the atmosphere of the mind

Whatever we repeatedly remember colours consciousness. Remember a conflict and the body may tense. Remember someone you love and the emotional atmosphere can shift. Raja Yoga applies the same principle spiritually: remembrance of the Supreme gradually colours the soul with the qualities being remembered.

The practice is called yoga — connection of awareness. The soul remembers the Supreme, the intellect holds that connection, and reactive sanskars can slowly lose strength as a different inner experience is repeated.

Love without dependency

Spiritual love in Raja Yoga is meant to strengthen the soul rather than create dependency. The soul remembers its own dignity while receiving love from the Supreme.

This does not replace human relationships. It changes the way we enter them. Instead of “I am empty; you must complete me,” the experiment becomes “I am a soul with inner value; I can meet you with respect, generosity and clearer boundaries.”

Choose one relationship today

As Parent, experience belonging. As Teacher, become willing to learn. As Friend, speak inwardly with honesty. As Guide, pause before a difficult decision. As Ocean of Peace, sit quietly and absorb peace.

Do not jump between all the relationships every minute. Pick one and stay with it long enough for it to become more than words.

Reflection

Write your answers if you can. The aim is observation, not a perfect answer.

Practise through the whole day

Morning

15 minutes — Begin soul-conscious, then turn awareness toward the Supreme Soul as a point of radiant peace. Let the relationship become personal.

Midday

5 minutes — Before an important task, pause: “I am a soul; the Supreme is my Guide. Let my next action be clear and benevolent.”

Evening

15 minutes — Review where you felt supported, where you forgot the connection, and what quality you want to carry into tomorrow.

Extended guided meditation

Sit comfortably. Return to the awareness: I am a soul, the conscious being using this body.

Now allow the mind to move beyond the immediate room and the busyness of the physical world. Imagine a dimension of stillness and light.

In Raja Yoga, I remember the Supreme Soul as a tiny, radiant point of spiritual light — peaceful, pure and benevolent.

I do not need to force an image. I hold a simple awareness: the Supreme is present in my consciousness.

I, the soul, turn toward the Ocean of Peace. As I remember peace, my thoughts slow naturally.

I allow the relationship of Parent: I belong.

I allow the relationship of Teacher: I can learn.

I allow the relationship of Friend: I can be honest.

I allow the relationship of Guide: I can pause, connect and choose.

Choose one quality — peace, love, purity, wisdom or strength — and sit with it.

Now remember someone with whom your relationship is difficult. Stay connected to the Supreme and see the other person as a soul. Keep your dignity. Let wisdom, not hurt, choose your response.

Return to the simple awareness: I am a soul, connected in remembrance with the Supreme Soul. Carry one drop of this relationship into your next conversation.

Before you leave Day 2

Mark this day complete after you have read the lesson and done at least one meditation. Return to the ideas during ordinary activity rather than racing ahead.
