A three-minute walk from bustling Ayala Avenue (“Wall Street of the Philippines”) in the central business district that boasts the highest daytime population in the country, there is a place dedicated to silence.
Brahma Kumaris Makati Center. It has stood in Makati City for over forty (40) years, a quiet, unflinching witness to constant changes around it.
Stepping inside, you wonder if the mind ceased normal cognition or has in fact slid up a notch to mellow overdrive. You note more, if subtler, colors as though streaming from behind the physical eyes, hushed sounds that melt into one another, a soft sensation that recalls the comforts of childhood.
Then you hear it. “Om shanti. Welcome.” You look, and another set of eyes meets yours with happiness. You are expected. You may remember this moment years later as possibly your first, fleeting experience of meditation.
