Sister Leela’s published Brahma Kumaris story describes a spiritual journey shaped by both academic study and personal searching. Raised in the Philippines, she studied philosophy at undergraduate level and later completed a master’s degree in theology while exploring religious traditions more broadly.
Before giving more of her life to spiritual service, she worked in training, research and publications for a university-based NGO serving marginalised communities. She first encountered Brahma Kumaris teachings in the late 1980s and formally began Raja Yoga lessons in 1991.
In her own account, the experience of God in silence became central to her spiritual path. Her story emphasises humility, cooperation, family responsibility and service rather than withdrawal from ordinary human relationships.
